Which smart lock fits your door

• Keypad-only deadbolts. No app, no Wi-Fi, no batteries dying because something was syncing. Codes for the family, a temporary one for the cleaner. The right answer for more Santee doors than the marketing suggests.
• Bluetooth locks. Unlock from your phone at the door, share codes from the app, see who came in. No hub needed.
• Wi-Fi locks. Everything above plus remote unlock from the Sportsplex bleachers when the babysitter is early. Uses more battery, and needs a decent signal at the door.

We install Schlage, Yale, Kwikset, Level and Ultraloq, among others, and we will tell you which one suits your door prep, your phone and your patience. If you already bought one, we install that. If your door has a handleset with a separate deadbolt (most of Santee does), a smart deadbolt drops in above the existing handle with no new holes.

Install, pair, and hand you the app

The lock is only half the job. We square the strike so the bolt throws without the motor straining, set the door so it does not need a shoulder to close, and then sit at the kitchen table with you: your code, a code for each kid, a schedule-limited code for the dog walker, auto-lock timing that fits how you actually use the door, and phone and watch unlock if the lock supports it. You leave with a working app, not a QR code and good luck.

Smart lock not working?

We fix the ones other people installed, including the builder's. The usual suspects, in order: batteries (especially on a west-facing door that bakes all afternoon), a misaligned bolt that makes the motor stall, a Wi-Fi bridge that fell off the network, firmware that wants an update, and a door that has sagged in the heat so the latch no longer meets the strike. Most of these are a 30-minute visit. A lock that has genuinely failed gets replaced with one that will not.

Garage and side doors

On tract homes the door from the garage into the house is the real front door. A keypad there means the garage opener code gets you all the way in with no key at all, and the front door can stay a plain deadbolt keyed to the rest of the house. Side gates can take a weather-rated keypad latch too, which ends the "is the gate padlock key on this ring" question for good.

For rentals and short-term stays

A landlord with a unit near Town Center or a room rented to a student can rotate a code between tenants from the app instead of paying for a rekey each turnover. We set up the owner account, a guest code slot, and walk you through changing it in under a minute. For a longer-term tenant we still recommend a mechanical key on file in case of dead batteries.
